30 Questions To Ask Yourself During NaNoWriMo-Day 10

Happy Sunday! 10 days in, how’s your novel progressing so far?

Back to business. Knowing who your readers are will affect the way you write your first draft and subsequent drafts afterward. That’s why today’s post is dedicated to audience.

Question #10

Who is your target audience?

Obviously, writing to a seven year old is different than writing to a seventeen year old.

So structure your story accordingly. Your diction, tone, voice, content, etc., will all change depending on who you are writing to.

While writing try to picture someone in mind. A friend, a teacher, a parent, a child, anybody. Then write your story to that audience of one.

Once you’ve established a specific audience, the writing process should be a little easier.

Take advantage of the weekend and ramble away with your readers in mind.

Don’t forget to ask yourself: is your story making sense so far?

I’ll be back with a post on the aforementioned tomorrow.
