I want to fail just once so I can be humbled by the experience.
Nope, doesn’t happen. Instead life has to work out well. Too well.
Rather than rejection after rejection, it’s success after success.
I’m starting to think I’m actually a decent writer.
Uh-oh. Let the arrogant me take over.
No to burst your awesome bubble (because you are!), but we’ll all experience rejection and disappoint at some point in our writing careers. No matter how small. But we do have to have a small amount of arrogance in order to be good writers. If we didn’t have any confidence in ourselves, nothing would ever get written.

I appreciate the reality check. π Mhm, I guess the good out-shadows the bad, if that makes any sense. The acceptance and accomplishments make the rejection and disappointment easier to take. I agree. We have to believe in our work and, of course, ourselves. π

You have to be arrogant and believe your writing is the best in the world. Otherwise you’d have no confidence and then you actually would be getting rejection after rejection.

In that case get your story written and then submit it so that you can get your first rejection letter and feel better! π

Ah, the hubris of youth. I was invincible and handsome, once. You do not have to wish for failure. It will visit you.
And then you carry on.

Well said. It’s nice being young and naΓ―ve. I’ll be waiting for the visit with open arms.
I guess that’s the way life works.
