Out of all my classes, I’m most worried for English and Writer’s Craft.
Which isn’t anything special unless you take into account the following:
- I claim to be an aspiring writer. Not the I aspire to write kind. But the I aspire to be a better writer than I was yesterday; hence I write every day kind.
- I blog almost every day. I can probably count the number of days I didn’t on two hands.
- I read anything and everything. Good, bad, contemporary, classic, etc.
- I love words. Almost as much as I love breathing. Almost.
- I’m surrounded by newspapers, books, notebooks. You name it.
So why the worry or concern? Thomas Mann said it best…
Non-writers thinking writing is so easy, but they truly have no idea.
If writing were easy I’d have a few things published by now and I wouldn’t be going to school for it.
Good luck with your classes!

Aha I see so many students claim they’re amazing writers. Only problem is they aren’t as amazing as they think are. Well, reality sinks in one day. One day you’ll publish a book. Also I want a signed copy of it. 🙂
Thank you. Good luck with your crazy schedule.

If you look to the other side of it, you have to be confident and believe you’re the best writer in the world to psych yourself up and actually pursue writing. Of course, there is such a thing as being too confident. 😉
One day we will all publish a book, but today is not that day lol.

Agreed pursuing a career as a writer is no easy feat. Being overly confident is the fastest way to be disappointed.
That day will come. 😀

Tell me about it. Writing-wise, I’m always most productive when I’m avoiding something I’m forced to write. I always have to agonize over every detail of everything, but especially with school projects.

True. It’s easier to write, when inspired.
And a hard chore, when forced, especially in school projects.

Mmhmm I think in that respect I have an advantage over my classmates. Writers don’t always have a choice of writing when we’re inspired. Imagine journalists only writing when they felt like it or when inspiration struck. But writing about a topic or subject I don’t care too much for might cause a few problems.

Tell me about it. I can probably whip out a novel faster than I can write an essay for school. Ugh, I’m like you as well. Agonizing over every word, rewriting again and again, polishing it to perfection. Let the fun begin. 🙂

You’ll do fabulous, I’m sure. But Thomas was right. It’s harder for us because we think more when we write. We’re more embedded in the stories, essays, papers, and such than non-writers are. We think about all the little details and agonize for days over wording, syntax, voice, plot, etc. Non-writers aren’t hampered by those things. I pity them, but sometimes I pity us, because it really does make things more difficult and we bring on our own trials. Good luck!

Thanks Amy. He was a wise man. Sometimes I feel like I was a better writer when I first started out because I wasn’t so cynical and critical. Nowadays, I’m much more meticulous about my writing. Non-writers don’t understand that it isn’t any easier for us than it is for them. I can’t wait for everyone to make assumptions simply because I’m a writer. 😉
Mhmm I agree one hundred percent.

When people make assumptions, you’ll blow them out of the water. I’m sure of it.

You have too much confidence in me.

No such thing. Besides, it’s better than the alternative: having too little confidence in you. Not going to happen. I’m a perpetual optimist.

Hahaha being cool isn’t going to help me succeed in school.

Really, geez school is tough. I would think just being you is enough. Your school should use you as their mascot, you could be on billboards.

School mascot? Oh please, like one percent of the school’s population actually knows who I am.

Can’t believe that, I’m sorry. Or everyone at your school is stoned, which is a possibility but I STILL wouldn’t believe that. Obviously everyone’s jealous!

Don’t be. They simply don’t understand me although you did raise a very accurate point there. Everyone will be even more jealous when I’m famous. 😉

It’s hard to understand true awesomeness when you see it if you don’t pass a standard IQ test, which I find many do not. 😉 Everyone won’t know what hit them, which will make your victory that much more special!

Hahaha! I laughed so hard at this comment because I’d love to see that, people being hit hard in the face with your awesomeness. You HAVE to get that videotaped and placed onto YouTube pronto, you’d have like a gazillion hits, a lot of which will be from moi

Ahahaha now you’re making me imagine it. Don’t worry I’ll start vlogging on top of blogging. Although I think that one video is enough to make me a YouTube legend. All thanks to you of course. 🙂

Oh I would love to see you vlogging. You HAVE to tell me when you do this because you’re already a legend but then you’d blow all of the Marvel Avenger characters out of the water. Pow Bam Slam!!!

Well I’ve always been a bit hesitant to start vlogging. But after your lovely comment, I may reconsider. Pow Bam Slam can be my motto. 🙂
