Blogging 101: Extend Your Brand

Extend your brand with one of the following: a custom Blavatar, a custom image widget, or a fan page.

Ehhhhhhhk. That word haunts me.

I finally fixed my Blavatar. (Read: I learned how to upload the newer head-shot I’ve been using for months as my blog picture.) You learn something new everyday.

But I can’t create a custom image to save my life. I’d pay someone to but I’m broke. And I’m about to be even more broke. Perks of going to university this coming September.

Um, uh..I have a failing Facebook page. Once again I’m broke. I’m a full-time student. I’m someone who procrastinates. A lot. If I ever become a full-time blogger, I’ll pay more attention to my other social media accounts. Until then I can blame homework to finish, projects to complete, and deadlines to meet. As well as tests and exams I always cram for because I hate studying.

Brand still haunts me.

From the bottom of my heart, I hope everyone is doing a better job extending their brand.

  1. You already managed to put together a custom image for your new header. It should be a similar enough process to make a widget with a custom image. I think I might try it myself sometime (an image-widget linking to my post series pages, I suppose).

  2. Aside from my blog, my only “successful” social media is Twitter. I do not have a Facebook page for myself and my Tumblr and Google+ are linked to my blog. Other than my posts automatically posting there, I don’t use them. Maybe when I’m actually published I’ll use them more often.

    1. Mmm maybe when we’re both full-time writers and bloggers, there will be enough time in the day to post on other social media accounts? Sigh, I prefer writing over spending time maintaining my Facebook page or Twitter.

  3. As someone currently without a day job, I could probably consider myself a (very broke) full-time writer/blogger, but I still don’t know what I’m doing 😛 My facebook page is also failing quite spectacularly and while I do okay on Twitter, I’m terrible at connecting with people on it so it mostly consists of me posting my blog posts and using a lot of hashtags. I figure once I’m published and not as broke then some of this stuff will be easier to sort out 🙂
