A Major Decision

I don’t know what I want my major to be. See what I did there?

How does one decide?

How can you pick just one major?

I’m only worrying about this right now because I have nothing else to worry about. Well, nothing major to worry about.

Except for the fact that there’s snow on the ground in April. It’s spring.

Canada is a weird country, sometimes.

  1. We still have a bit of snow here, too. It’s slowly melting.

Picking a major is tough… there are so many things you want to do and want to learn, but you just can’t. There’s not enough time and there’s not enough money. I just you just have to ask yourself, out of all your options, which one can you see yourself doing for the rest of your life happily?

      1. It’s definitely tough to think about. I could rattle off a ton of majors I would love to do. However, I know I’ll never use the degree, so it would just be a waste of time and money. The extra knowledge would be a plus, though.

  2. I have to choose my university courses as I apply (although the application closes in January, so I don’t understand why my parents are being so anal about it!). I want to apply for Creative Writing, but no, they say, what are you going to do with that? But I don’t want to study just English, I say, because I want some creative writing. Or maybe- No, they say. Ugh, university is driving me mad and I haven’t even picked a course yet so perhaps I’m not the best person to give advice. But, I would suggest creating something like a mind map or a table or whatever your thing is and doing pros/cons of each major. It’ll help you to sort out your own thoughts even if it takes a while longer to choose your major.

    1. Oh no. I would hate to have to choose my courses so early on in the process. Creative Writing sounds so fun, but I hear you. People don’t think it’s of any use although I beg to differ. I hope you are able to take at least one writing course in university. If not, is it possible you could join a creative writing club or something similar at your school? Same here. I’ve been thinking of selecting English as my major. Then again, I want to be writing my own stories and novels, not just reading other people’s. Mmm I’ve done that to narrow down which school I want to go to. Time for me to make more pro/con lists. 🙂

  3. It’s tough. I loved music and originally picked that as my major, but changed it to psychology a year or so later. Sometimes I wish I had stuck it out, other times I wish I had done creative writing and literature. It’s not easy, so I truly empathise. 🙂
