I need to vent.
Don’t ask me to give you a book recommendation unless…
- you respect my opinion
- you understand that I’m human too
- you go in with an open mind
Otherwise, forget it.
In simpler terms: don’t disrespect, distrust, and disregard.
Venting complete.
I rarely give or take book recommendations. Mostly because everyone is so different and none of us like the exact same thing. I much prefer to find books for myself.

Exactly. I don’t get many book recommendations, but sometimes I’m asked to give them. Mhm if a book blogger mentions a book that piques my interest, I’m all for checking it out.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and no one’s opinion is wrong. With that being said, if someone gives you a book recommendation and you don’t like it, then oh well. I agree, you should at least go in with an open mind.

I wish everyone could understand that. It’s hard when people dismiss every book on the shelf for some silly reason.

My friends are the same way. They just don’t enjoy reading so they always think it’s funny when I tell them I’m reading one book and then the following day I’m on a different book.

Haha I can imagine that. You’re able to walk into a bookstore and tell them you’ve read every other book. 😉

If nothing else, it’s fun to see the looks on their faces. 🙂

Agreed. It’s an interesting sight to behold.

My biggest frustration with book recommendation is when someone says, “Hey, you read a lot. What should I read?” without giving me ANY glimpse into what kinds of things they like to read. And then they either never read my recommendation or they dislike it. So frustrating!

Ugh, I have to prod them into giving me some details. It’s a waste of time for both parties then. What a shame. They should at least give the book a chance before deciding that it’s not worth their time.
