Two Voices | A Short Story

There’s no class today.

As if the empty classroom wasn’t indication enough?

Shut up.

Why didn’t you come to this realization, oh I don’t know, two hours ago?

I forgot. Sorry.

Good job. This is fantastic. Now you have more than two hours to waste.

I won’t waste it.

Yeah, right.

I’ll prove you wrong.

If you knew any better you would own up to your problem. But you’re just going to keep living in denial.

Stop. I don’t need to put up with this.

So do you want to put up with everyone else? Do you love a corrupted system so much you can be complacent in it?

No.

You’re so much better than this.

So what am I supposed to do?

Change.

That’s helpful. You know I can’t just magically turn my life around.

Well, you could wake up for starters.

Whose side are you on?

Yours. I’m you, remember.
