The wind carried giggles
I shielded my face
from the sun
as it bore down
warmed the pavement
the strip of hard ground
my feet skipped over
I felt sand between my toes
collided with the ocean tide
came up to my knees
waded out to sea
splashed around for hours
lost track of time
couldn’t sense when it’d be night
back then my mind didn’t realize
that was the best day of my life
That was a good one!

This poem lifted me up. We finally had sunshine today, and I wished after reading your poem I could drive down to Galveston! It really captured the fun at the beach!

I’m so happy it did. Aw, how awesome. I hope you get to drive down there soon. I haven’t been to the beach in a long time.
