End Of The Year Review And Thank You

Happy New Year’s Eve. Happy New Year. I don’t know when you’re reading this. But have a happy day regardless!

Thank you all for another amazing year. I’m grateful for every single one of you.

This blog didn’t do so poorly if I do say so myself. I got to review an awesome book, share interesting infographics courtesy of Grammarly, and confess something that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

I even wrote articles for Student Life Network as well as SUM.

I truly admire the work you’ve done and continue to do. You inspire me.

May 2016 be more awesome than 2015, 2014, all the previous years combined. You deserve it!

There are plenty more words to be written and stories to be shared in the new year. So happy writing, reading, and blogging.

I hope you’re happy and healthy and whatever else you want to be.

Stay great.

Reading Resolutions

Happy second day of 2015. For some of you, it may be the third day already. Are you keeping up with your resolutions so far?

Of all things, reading is very easy to neglect. That’s probably why I wasn’t the avid reader I would’ve liked to have been in 2014. This year I’m working to change that by making and (hopefully) sticking to my reading resolutions.

Here are my reasonable and realistic reading resolutions. We’ll see in 2016 if I manage to achieve all three.

I don’t know why I don’t already do this, but I seriously need to start tracking the books I read. I’m using a tiny pocket notebook to do this. In it, I’m writing down the title of the book, the author, the date I started it, and the date I finish.

I aim to read something meaningful every day. Text messages don’t count. Emails don’t either.

I hope to read at least 22 books this year. In the past, I’ve read more. But 2015 is not like any other year. I’m blogging on multiple platforms, I am trying to write more, and I’m in my last year of high school. That said, I think I can still manage to read more than one book every two weeks.

These are my reading resolutions for this year. What are yours?

Last Day Of 2014—New Year’s Eve

Happy New Year’s Eve! If it’s already January 1st where you are, then I wish you a Happy New Year!

Fair warning: I will be making some changes to this blog several hours from now. In terms of content, I will still be blogging about blogging and posting many writing and reading related posts.

I hope 2014 has been good to you and your blog. May 2015 be even better.

Of course, I owe a huge thank you to everyone who has stuck by me this year. Your support is very much appreciated. I will forever be in your debt.

If you currently follow aspiringwriter22, you might as well continue to. Sometimes I say funny things. Emphasis on sometimes.

Right now I have the greatest urge to post a picture of me, but I won’t because I don’t want to scar you for life.

LOL (lots of love—not laugh out loud),

NaNoWriMo Winner; Tomorrow Is December

Did you notice the beautiful looking web badge declaring I am a NaNoWriMo winner? For any insane individual who is thinking this, I, Herminia Chow, did not steal it from someone else. That’s complete blasphemy. I’m proud to say I earned it by writing 50,000 words. Le gasp. It is possible guys and girls, haters and doubters.

I’m trying to come to terms with the fact that tomorrow is December. It may already be December for some of you, but either way, there is only one month left. One month. Take that in. Absorb this mind-boggling fact. One more month left before 2014 becomes 2015. Are you excited? I know I am.

One more thing I want to point out. This one isn’t as obvious as the first two, promise. Okay, I lied. Is my title awesome or is it awesome? Ha, I will never apologize for my love of rhyme.

The July-August Transition

The first day of August is a couple hours away (where I live of course). And if that doesn’t scare you then you’ve probably already accomplished something this year. You have, haven’t you? But if you’re just realizing you have about 5 more months left in 2014 to make it memorable, don’t fret because there are others in the same boat as you. Like, for example, me.

Since it’s going to be a new month, I will strive to be a better blogger because once school starts, all bets are off.

Here’s what I hope to do in August to make up for my inadequacy as a blogger in September all the way to June…(Speaking of inadequacy, the title of my post is horrendous. Moving on…)

  • Leave at least one comment on somebody’s blog every day. It will most likely be someone I am following. If I’m not following you and you’re reading this, you have every right to yell at me.
  • Post at least once a day. I’ve done well in the past several months so I want to continue to blog daily. More importantly, what I post won’t be total gibberish or complete nonsense. I’ll try to make my posts meaningful or insightful. Possibly both. I’m open to suggestions as well. If there’s something you want me to cover that I haven’t already, I will gladly do so. Unless you ask me to write about cars.
  • The last goal may be the hardest one of all: Work on being funnier than I was the day before. Why? Because I’m going back to school—entering grade 12—in September and I think I at least deserve one month where I can be stress free, relaxed, and happy.

Do I look like someone who breaks my promises? The correct answer is no. If I do, however, fail to meet one or all of the above, go ahead; report me to the blogging police for lying under oath.

If you love me more by the end of this, thank you. I love you too. If you hate this blog and still do by the end of August, that’s okay too. I’ll like you a little less.

Have an amazing day. If you’re reading this in August, happy August!

You mean to tell me I survived 4 months but still have 8 more to go?

What Not To Do On April Fool’s Day

I’ve crafted this what not to do on April Fool’s Day post with a writing related twist.

  • Claim you are a writer when you clearly aren’t. The writer title isn’t something you can throw around like a boomerang. Take writing seriously or don’t write at all.
  • Lie about your previous accomplishments or past achievements. This is about as helpful as banging a hammer on your hand multiple times over. Be an honest writer or don’t be a writer at all.
  • Steal someone else’s work without crediting them. Why make people question your integrity by doing something so ridiculous? Stay original or stop writing.

Aside from what I’ve mentioned, use your common sense on April Fool’s Day and on every other day of the year. OK?

But I know you are all bright, intellectual people. Still, smart people make dumb choices all the time. Case in point: me.

Happy first day of April everyone! Have a wonderful day (or night).

The End Of This Blog?

Fellow bloggers,

I was thinking about this blog. More specifically, I was thinking about ending this blog. I’m ready to give up on blogging. I’m ready to quit writing. Now’s the time to part from both. Besides, my life is hugely occupied by this blog. If I closed my WordPress account, I would have more time to do other things. After all, I am a student. Everyone says being a student is my first priority. Everything else is secondary. Without blogging in the way, I can focus more on my grades. I can concentrate on my future. Oh, who am I fooling? There is no way I could stop writing or quit blogging. I love this blog like it’s my baby. Happy April Fool’s Day! I hope I didn’t manage to fool you. I know I didn’t fool myself. Especially since giving up and quitting is so unlike me. Anyhow, I’m not trying to be a cruel person by taking advantage of April Fool’s Day. Because…it isn’t just April Fool’s Day! Yep, April 1st, 2013 was the day I created this blog. Although my first post was published on April 2nd, 2013, I still feel like I should celebrate today. It is, in a way, my one year blogging anniversary. So I plan to do something special.

I know I don’t say this enough but hear me out. I think you know I don’t take any of this for granted. Especially since I couldn’t have ran a blog all by myself. Thanks to every single one of you for making my blogging journey so incredibly amazing/enjoyable/every wonderful adjective known to mankind. I appreciate all your support and I am truly grateful for everything.

Lots of love,

Herminia (who shall really be referred to as aspiringwriter22)
