This is a testament to a writer’s willpower.
Were you expecting a poem from me today? If you were that probably means you’ve been following my blog long enough to know I usually write poems for special occasions. I didn’t plan to pen a poem today but now that I’m writing this post, I guess I will be. See how quickly things change. In a matter of minutes I went from not planning to write a poem to deciding to write a poem.
Thank you to my one and only dad
You’ve been there even when things were bad
You supported me through thick and thin
You told me to never give up or give in

I just want to tell you
There’s so much I’ve been through
You made my life easier and better
I love you forever

We’ve shared laughs and stories
We’ve made many memories
Have a great time today
Happy Father’s Day
Happy Family Day! (If that holiday pertains to you at all.)
If not, Happy President’s Day! (If, once again, this is any concern to you.)
Or should I just say happy Monday? Unless of course, it’s not Monday where you live since different places have different time zones, which is something I learned in a class I completely despised, but now that I think about it, I guess I did learn something…as much as I hate to admit it. I shall digress no further.
I hope you are able to spend some time with your family today or tonight regardless of whether or not you have Family Day where you live. And take a moment to honour/honor the prime ministers/presidents/leaders who have done great acts for your province/state/country/nation. You know what I mean.
And if you were wondering—although you probably weren’t—I did not happen to write a poem for either of the two holidays. There’s always next year.

Hey wonderful people of the world!
Know that someone, somewhere loves you.
I hope you love someone too whether that is your mother, a grandparent, your sister, a friend, your cousin, a teacher, etc. It’s okay if you don’t.
Even so, I want you to find something or someone you love. And love him or her or it forever.
That isn’t so hard, is it? That isn’t too much to ask for, right?
I know that Valentine’s Day was yesterday but that doesn’t mean you stop loving someone any less.
One of my teachers believe you have to “keep the love alive.” Well, let me be the first to tell you to keep the love alive year round.
Buy her chocolates on a day which has no particular significance. Cook him dinner as a surprise one night. I know the above examples were completely cliche and stereotypical but you know what I mean.
Love isn’t a one-day thing. Love isn’t supposed to be a short-term fling.
I have one last thing to say before I call it a day…
The number of people I know whose birthday it is today astounds me. Since I’m not going to dedicate a poem to each and every one of them, I’ll write a general piece for all of them. So to my brother, to a former classmate, and to an old friend…I wish you all the best along with anyone else who happens to be born on this day.
I hope you know you mean a lot
I hope you find the things you sought
You are great the way you are
You shine just like a shooting star

But you can be you and I can be me
With so much left to discover

I think we all need a break from NaNoWriMo or at least a break from my seemingly endless blog posts about NaNoWriMo. Below is a poem I want to dedicate to my one and only mother.
