How To Inspire Yourself To Write

Because sometimes we all need to be inspired before writing.

Dance. Play baseball. Shoot some hoops. Whatever you like. Move your body, and maybe your mind will too.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is write, even when you’re slumping. If nothing else, start another project. Try to write when you aren’t inspired or motivated. Who knows what might happen.

If you don’t feel like reading, watch a movie or TV show. Perhaps other stories will inspire you to tell your own.

Play. Have fun. Video games are great. You have a new world to discover. You get to see a storyline unfold. You can study dialogue between different characters.

Bloggers are some of the most inspiring people you’ll ever meet. Enough said.

At times, you just need a break. That’s okay. Eat. Sleep. Take care of your body. Return to your story when you’re ready.

Go outside. Take a walk. Travel somewhere you’ve never been before. That could get the creative juices flowing again.

Happy writing!

How To Find Inspiration

Even though inspiration is everywhere, it’s still easy to feel uninspired.

I’m a firm believer in not waiting around for anything, least of all inspiration.

By no means is this tiny list all encompassing.

Look around you. Like really look around you. A crack in the wall. That person on the bus. The wild animal roaming outside. Stories manifest from this stuff.

Look inward. Study yourself. You know you best. So examine your thoughts and feelings. This doesn’t mean write self insert characters. This means consider yourself as inspiration for a character.

Look towards media. Books in particular. I think a lot of problems in this world can be solved by picking up a book and reading it. But that’s just me.

Look up, down, right, left, in, out, here, there. Look everywhere!

My Writing Values

  • To inspire others to write.
  • To encourage people to keep writing.
  • To help others become a better writer.

Of course, I hope the same for myself.

Blogging 101: Get Inspired By the Neighbors

Write a post that builds on one of the comments you left yesterday. Don’t forget to link to the other blog!

One of the comments I left yesterday:

“This inspires me.”

The post is:

A measure of a man in growth & conscience…

And the person who inspired me:

F. Kenneth Taylor

I don’t really know what else I can say. Even now I’m still slightly speechless.

Personal Reflection

Love Yourself

Love yourself so no one else has to. Respect yourself so no one else needs to.

Treat yourself too.

I went from trying to sound profound and inspirational to well, that.

Don’t doubt thyself!

Now I’m sounding like a phony.

Copying, Stealing, and Plagiarizing

I’m frustrated and infuriated with several people who decided to copy, steal, and plagiarize my ideas.

If you’re going to use somebody else’s ideas, give them credit. If you can’t give them credit, don’t use their idea.

Don’t claim it as your own.

That’s just wrong.

See I’m okay with people being inspired by others or learning from them. In fact, I am all for it.

Individuals who think it is okay to copy and paste are my problem. It should be obvious that changing one word does not make the idea yours. Changing one word or one line does not magically make you the creator of the work.

To me, the worst kind of stealing is stealing intellectual property.

I guess these imbeciles want to deal with the wrath of a writer. As well as the wrath of someone who has dreamed of being an IP lawyer.

Personal Reflection

To the people who inspire me without even knowing they inspire me.

Thanks for inspiring me to inspire others.

Inspire is such a lovely word. I should use it more often.

And so should you.

Have an inspirational day!

I Love The ‘Inspire Me’ Feature In WordPress

I totally forgot about the Inspire Me feature offered by WordPress until today when I saw one of my older posts, which was actually created courtesy of this awesomeness.

Inspire Me Feature On WordPress

Terrible image quality, I know. But if you click on the picture above, it looks much better. Don’t believe me? Then see for yourself.

Anyhow, just thought I should throw my opinions out there. Besides, what other site has an Inspire Me feature? That’s what I thought.

Another reason why I love WordPress.
