The number of people I know whose birthday it is today astounds me. Since I’m not going to dedicate a poem to each and every one of them, I’ll write a general piece for all of them. So to my brother, to a former classmate, and to an old friend…I wish you all the best along with anyone else who happens to be born on this day.

I hope you know you mean a lot

I hope you find the things you sought

You are great the way you are

You shine just like a shooting star

People change when need be

But you can be you and I can be me

With so much left to discover

Let’s tear off the secret cover

Sometimes I am at a loss for words

As you triumph strongly onwards

To the many things that you teach

Cheers to the memories within our reach

Today is the birthday of someone who is a fan of mine, an old friend, and a close family member. Following tradition, it’s only fair this writer wrote a piece dedicated to someone who’s been there for her since the start.

This one is for you.

You’ve seen me raw and exposed

You’ve watched me cool and composed

You always make me laugh

You’re like my other half

You’re the one who knows just how I feel

You can tell if what I say is real

We don’t need to fill the silence

Because we’ve established a perfect balance

We’re friends but we’re so much more

We’re tight but we continue to explore

And I know we’ll look back and say

Today wasn’t just an ordinary birthday

I think we all need a break from NaNoWriMo or at least a break from my seemingly endless blog posts about NaNoWriMo. Below is a poem I want to dedicate to my one and only mother.

I don’t say this enough but I ought to: I love you mom.

Thanks for giving me such a great life

You’re a caring mother and a loving wife

Much love to you on this day

Bless your heart in every way

You watched me during my childhood

Making sure things would turn out as it should

I know a poem does not suffice

Each promise and every sacrifice

I’ll give you what you’ve given me

By being the best that I can be

Thank you for being honest and true

Your daughter will never stop loving you

Because of the success with my previous birthday poems, I decided to write another one—this time it’ll be dedicated to my older cousin.

Congratulations on turning a year older

You’re now so much wiser

I’ve watched you grow up so tall

Remember when we were small

You’ve made me laugh pointlessly

As we wandered through our childhood aimlessly

I hope from each other we continue to learn

Don’t forget all those memories I still yearn

I know one day we’ll part ways

But until then we shall cherish these days

Happy birthday tonight

Live it up with delight
